Packing a Bible for Travel

Begin with the reading you want to take, not only the space in your bag. Our Black and White printed editions contain the New Testament. If your travel reading plan includes Psalms, Genesis or another Old Testament book, you will need that text separately.

Check the book rather than its photograph

The editions have 432 A5 pages. A5 is a page format, approximately 148 × 210 mm; it does not tell you the exact outside cover dimensions or packed weight. Do not assume that a fitted pouch for another A5 book will also fit this one.

Choose hardcover or softcover according to your preference and available space. We do not list a verified travel-weight comparison here, so a claim that one is the ideal lightweight option would be misleading.

Protect it inside the bag

Put the book in a clean, dry sleeve or separate compartment. Keep keys, pens and bottles away from the cover and page edges. Avoid packing it so tightly that the cover is bent or a hard object presses into the spine.

If a bag gets wet, a fabric sleeve alone may not keep the book dry. Plan for the conditions of your journey without treating the book itself as weather-resistant equipment.

Set up a short reading plan

Choose a passage before leaving and mark it with a thin bookmark. One chapter of Mark or a section of John can be easier to return to during a busy journey than an undefined goal to read more. Carry a separate note or use your phone for questions rather than forcing a notebook inside the cover.
