How Big Is an A5 Bible?

A5 describes the page format, not the total size or weight of a bound book. An A5 sheet measures 148 × 210 mm, approximately 5.8 × 8.3 inches. Our physical Black and White New Testaments use A5 format and contain 432 pages.

Make a paper outline

Mark a rectangle 148 mm wide and 210 mm tall on a sheet of paper. Place it on the table where you read, then beside the book you currently use. This gives a better sense of page size than a product photograph viewed on a phone.

A hardcover extends beyond its pages. The outline does not represent the outside cover dimensions, spine thickness or space needed for a protective sleeve. Check those separately before buying a fitted case.

Page size does not tell you text size

Two books with identical page dimensions can use different type sizes, margins and columns. Our editions use two columns. Open the actual interior sample and inspect a full page rather than judging readability from the cover.

Try the sample in the lighting where you usually read. The Black Edition has white Scripture on black printed pages; the White Edition has black Scripture on white pages. Both use red lettering for Jesus’ words. Neither the page format nor the color guarantees a comfortable reading experience for every reader.

Check your bag and reading position

An A5 outline helps you check a bag opening, but allow additional room for the cover and thickness. For reading at a desk, check the space for an open spread as well as a closed book. If you plan to hold it for long sessions, dimensions alone cannot tell you how it will feel.

Choose the binding after checking the sample. Hardcover and softcover contain the same English WEB New Testament; the binding does not add the Old Testament or change the translation.
