New Testament vs Full Bible: What Is Included?

A New Testament is one part of the Christian Bible. It begins with Matthew and ends with Revelation. A Bible containing both Testaments also includes the Old Testament. That difference matters more than the color or size of the cover.

Which familiar books are where?

Genesis, Exodus, Psalms and Proverbs belong to the Old Testament. Matthew, Mark, Luke, John, Acts and the New Testament letters belong to the New Testament. The Christmas accounts in Matthew and Luke are in the New Testament; the creation account in Genesis is not.

Some books sold as “New Testament with Psalms and Proverbs” add those two Old Testament books. That label describes a different contents selection from a New Testament alone. Do not assume the additions are present unless the edition says so.

What our printed editions contain

Our physical Black and White editions contain the English World English Bible New Testament: all 27 books, from Matthew through Revelation. They do not contain Psalms, Proverbs or Genesis. The title “Holy Bible” on a cover does not replace the more specific contents information on the product page.

Our illustrated Genesis book is a separate retelling for families. It is not the missing Old Testament volume of these editions, and combining it with a New Testament does not create a complete Bible translation.

When a New Testament fits

A New Testament can suit someone who wants to read the Gospels, Acts and the letters in one dedicated volume. It can also be useful for a group reading a New Testament book. If your reading plan moves between both Testaments, you will need another source for the Old Testament passages.

For a gift, ask what the recipient expects. Someone requesting “a Bible” may mean a volume containing both Testaments. Confirm that before selecting a New Testament-only edition.

A quick contents check

Open the contents page or product details. Look for the first and last books, any stated exclusions, and the translation name. If your church or course specifies a particular Bible edition or book set, use that requirement rather than judging from a product photograph.
